Theater

Herring Run ArtsFest brings to the stage in the format of staged readings, sparkling new short plays by local, regional, and national playwrights. Plays by novice as well as nationally acclaimed award-winning writers are selected through an open call process.

The theater segment of Herring Run ArtsFest was first established by Paula Caplan, herself an award-winning playwright, director, and actor. Caplan’s award-winning play, The Test, was featured at ArtsFest 2001.

The theatre portion of ArtsFest provides a place for writers to see and hear their work come to life as actors perform staged readings of their ten-minute romances, comedies, and dramas. By supporting new work in early development, the Herring Run ArtsFest hopes to inspire artists to hone and refine their pieces, crafting, "growing" them, and moving them forward.
